UPON A LADY, WHO HURT HER FOOT BY TREADING ON A THORN.
If gay Calista, in the flow'ry road
Of vice, perchance upon a thorn had trod,
Impatient she'd have borne the pungent pain;
But you've no right, my Delia to complain:
For oft we've heard the pious vicar say,
"The path of virtue is a thorny way!"
